We are thrilled to share the addition of Vimal Semplay to the Saphineia team as a Senior Director, Supply Chain & Commercialization. Vimal will lead Saphineia’s commercial efforts in the manufacturer channel and support clients on supply chain, contracting and commercialization matters.
Experience
Vimal joined Saphineia from Hearthside Food Solutions, where he had P&L ownership and led a commercial team responsible for $300mn in revenue across 300+ SKUs and 6 contract manufacturing sites. Vimal joined Hearthside in connection with its 2018 acquisition of Greencore USA, where Vimal served as Director of Sales and Supply Chain. Vimal also brings valuable global supply chain experience to Saphineia, having served as Supply Chain Manager for Greencore UK.

Vimal’s brings a unique perspective to Saphineia, given his experience sitting between ‘commercial’ and ‘operations’ functions to secure and onboard new customers and SKUs at various manufacturing facilities.
Highlights
Inventory Control: As Supply Chain Manager for a site producing 300,000 units daily across 150 SKUs and utilizing 700 materials and packaging components, Vimal maintained working capital consistently below 5 days stock throughout the year, surpassing the target of 7 days, while achieving a material availability rate of 99.89% across over 700 raw materials.
Project Management: At Greencore USA, Vimal project managed the on-time, on-budget startup of a new factory for a strategic customer.
Planning and Commercialization: Vimal owned capacity and budget planning across 6 fresh food manufacturing facilities, a role that required managing significant complexity given the extremely short-shelf life of the products made at these facilities.
Business Building: As Sr. Business Development Director for Hearthside, Vimal had P&L responsibility for 6 short-shelf life manufacturing plants, overseeing business development and operations teams that managed a portfolio of 300+ SKUs.

Vimal received a BSc in Software Engineering 2:1 from Kingston University, London.
